Jefferson City opened the Bryan Blitz era with a 4-0 boys soccer win over Waynesville on Tuesday night at Jefferson City High School. In his first high school match after recording 300 wins as a college coach, Blitz praised the team’s response to last week’s time crunch and said the Jays focused on finishing. With hot temperatures, hydration breaks were held at the midpoint of each half. Jefferson City controlled the match early: Mason Dishman’s pass to Josh Chojnacki led to Cooper Duryea’s header for the opener, then Duryea and Chojnacki combined again before halftime. Jace Kuljak made three saves. Waynesville dropped to 0-2.
