Both sides of ball falling short

Kirk Ferentz walked into the postgame microphones ready to show respect, but Iowa’s 30-0 shutout of Wisconsin at Iowa City made the message obvious. Saturday’s win extended Iowa’s series streak to five straight over the Badgers and marked the third consecutive season-ending-style blowout in Iowa’s favor. Ferentz said Wisconsin would “get back on their feet,” praising the program despite admitting recent struggles. On the field, Iowa’s offense delivered: a third-quarter tight end sweep, plus earlier play calls that mirrored Wisconsin’s own fourth-and-goal failure from the 1-yard line. Senior safety Matt Jung’s mistakes for Wisconsin included missed assignments against DJ Vonnahme and Reece Vander Zee, leading to big gains.
