Britain's Farage quits parliament in protest, but will stand for re-election
Britain’s Reform UK leader Nigel Farage said he will quit as a Member of Parliament for Clacton-on-Sea to trigger a by-election, while also announcing he will stand for re-election in that vote. Farage made the announcement on Tuesday at the end of a televised statement, linking the decision to opposition to what he described as press intrusion into his family life and efforts by the political establishment to hinder his party. He framed the coming election as “people versus the establishment,” and said he would “fight to win” and continue Reform’s “political revolution.” The move comes amid scrutiny of Farage’s finances in recent months. He said he wanted constituents to decide whether they still wanted him to be their lawmaker.
