British Airways Secretly Rates Its Most Loyal Passengers, Blogger Finds
A blogger, Ben Schlappig of One Mile At A Time, says British Airways secretly assigns customers a loyalty score called Corporate Individual Value (CIV), which ranges from 0 to 105 and is tied to how airlines prioritize service and rebooking. Schlappig found that BA’s Club has tiers Blue, Bronze, Silver and Gold, with additional upper levels—Gold Guest List and Gold Premier for major corporate travel budgets. Points earned through flights and purchases build toward lifetime tier points that continue accumulating even if a passenger flies less. The CIV system reportedly influences what happens when operations unravel: travelers with higher scores may be prioritized if delays or cancellations disrupt service. The article also notes BA’s long-haul business class change, with the Club Suite replacing the older Club World seating introduced in 2000.
