Chiefs GM Brett Veach Teases What's Coming as Final 53-Man Roster Decisions Begin

Kansas City Chiefs GM Brett Veach said the team’s roster is still not a “finished product” as final decisions approach the Sunday 53-man deadline. Speaking with KSHB’s Ari Wolfe and Trent Green after Friday’s preseason finale against the Seattle Seahawks, Veach said the Chiefs are already talking with other NFL teams and weighing options to strengthen areas of need. While training camp evaluation is largely underway, Veach emphasized the initial 53-man group may change as the season progresses. Kansas City must cut its roster from 90 players to 53 by 5 p.m. CT Sunday. The team started its trimming Saturday, with rookie linebacker Wesley Bissainthe the first reported player waived; he joined after going undrafted out of Miami in April.
