Chiefs placing LT Josh Simmons (back) on injured reserve
xCruzo Brief
Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Josh Simmons will be placed on injured reserve after his rehab for a lower-back injury “plateaued,” head trainer Rick Burkholder said Oct. 22. Simmons has been dealing with a bulging disc in his lower back since training camp. Burkholder noted Simmons returned to practice last week in a limited capacity, but the recovery has not progressed to the final steps needed for a return to competition. The 23-year-old has missed the first five games for Kansas City’s 5-0 start and will now miss at least four more. He won’t be eligible again until Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals on Nov. 22. Undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson has started in his place.
