Chris Gotterup tells The Post what it would mean to win US Open and how he's preparing for 'hard' course
Chris Gotterup, a Little Falls, New Jersey native and Rutgers alumnus, spoke with The Post about what it would mean to win the U.S. Open and how he is preparing for Shinnecock Hills, the storied course this week. He described winning as a milestone toward becoming a major champion, while stressing there is no added pressure and a focus on giving himself a late-round chance. He noted that the U.S. Open is a personal favorite and that he intends to stay grounded, keep his head down, and continue working hard for a strong performance on a course described as 'hard'. Asked whether he believes he can win, Gotterup said he would push to play his best and seize opportunities, but won't get ahead of himself since no shot has been taken yet. He acknowledged he would likely cry if he won, attributing the emotion to his journey and the support system around him, including his girlfriend.
