Commuters warned of major Christmas rail disruption in Redhill
xCruzo Brief
Rail passengers traveling through Redhill during Christmas and New Year are being told to plan ahead because Network Rail will close parts of the railway for engineering work. From 20 December to 3 January, more than one mile of track will be replaced as part of a £31.7m upgrade programme across the southern region. Trains will continue on fast lines, but any services that normally stop at Redhill station will be replaced by buses. Affected stops include Earlswood, Merstham, Coulsdon South, Nutfield and Godstone. Network Rail says new switches and crossings will be installed to improve reliability, and urges passengers to check before traveling and allow extra time.
