Connor Hellebuyck joins Devils looking to check one last box: 'I'm here to win'
Connor Hellebuyck arrived in Newark on Saturday, speaking to reporters for the first time since Friday’s blockbuster trade sent him from the Winnipeg Jets to the New Jersey Devils. The 33-year-old, a three-time Vezina Trophy winner and 2026 Olympic gold medalist, said his priority is unfinished business: winning a Stanley Cup, calling it the “one thing I got left on my resume.” Hellebuyck had been suspended for failing to report to Jets training camp after requesting a trade last August. He comes with an $8.5 million cap hit through 2030-31, with no salary retained. The Jets received Dawson Mercer, Nick Bjugstad, Nico Daws, prospect Alexander Command, a 2029 second-round pick, and a 2027 seventh-rounder. Devils GM Sunny Mehta said the deal was negotiated in under two days.
