Cotton Faces Thursday Weakness, Following Slow Export Business

Cotton futures were lower across the front months on Thursday, with losses ranging from 66 to 188 points at midday. Crude oil slipped 25 cents per barrel, while the US dollar index rose by $0.011. Export sales for the week totaled 71,231 RB for 2026/27, and 6,160 RB for new-crop 2027/28. Shipments reached 142,078 RB, up 17.91% versus the same week last year. The Seam reported an average sale price of 75.22 cents on Wednesday for 300 bales. The Cotlook A index fell 5 points on 9/16 to 94.60, and ICE certified cotton stocks dropped 1,313 bales to 36,617. Quotes included Oct 26 at 80.44 cents, down 66 points.
