Damilola Taylor: Knife crime prevention needed 'now more than ever'

Babatunde (Tunde) Taylor, the brother of schoolboy Damilola Taylor—who was fatally stabbed on his way home from Peckham Library in south London on 27 November 2000—said efforts to tackle knife crime are “needed now more than ever.” Twenty-six years after the killing, Taylor chairs the Damilola Taylor Trust, created by their parents to support disadvantaged children vulnerable to crime. He said current challenges facing young people are “more diverse” than when his brother died, citing factors such as the emergence of social media. Damilola’s killing has also become the subject of a BBC documentary, “Damilola: The Untold Story.”
