Daylight saving time ends on earliest possible day this year: When does the time change?
xCruzo Brief
Daylight saving time (DST) will end on the earliest possible date this year: Nov. 1, when clocks “fall back” one hour after Halloween, early in the morning hours on Oct. 31. This change follows the rule that DST ends on the first Sunday in November, making 2026 the earliest cutoff. Next year, DST ends later on Sunday, Nov. 7. From Nov. 1 to March 14, 2027, the U.S. will be on standard time. The twice-yearly schedule is set by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, which expanded DST’s timeframe. The Sunshine Protection Act would extend DST year-round, but it has passed the House and appears stalled in the Senate. States can opt out of spring DST, but not remain on DST permanently without federal approval.
