In Acre’s Old City, where narrow alleyways and historic buildings can make deliveries difficult, 27-year-old Muhammad Hani says takeaway services were often out of reach—especially because many drivers struggle to navigate the maze and because many residents rely on cash. Israeli startup Haat, founded in 2019 by Hasan Abasi, was created to combine app technology with cash-friendly payments. Starting in Umm al-Fahm, it now operates across 50 cities, partnering with more than 10,000 restaurants and markets and employing over 500 couriers. Haat is valued at more than $100 million.
