Dem senator says 'zero interest in running for president' in debate with GOP opponent

Georgia U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff reiterated during a Tuesday night Senate debate that he has “zero interest in running for president” in 2028, responding to questions about why his name keeps appearing in speculation. Atlanta Press Club moderator Greg Bluestein pressed Ossoff to commit to serving his full six-year term if re-elected. Ossoff said, “Yes, I will,” adding he is running for “re-election to the Senate,” not the White House. Ossoff, a Democrat in office since early 2021, faces Republican Rep. Mike Collins in the Georgia contest. Trump has backed Collins, while Barack Obama supports Ossoff.
