Don't like being stuck in an office': the young people helping plant a ring of trees around London

In Hadley Wood, a glade created by a fallen oak hosts a group of young adults with learning disabilities. They are planting a ring of trees around London as part of the London Tree Ring project. Harry Ewing, 20, helps place branches with the Harington Scheme. Started in 2023 as CPRE London’s 'M25 for nature' effort, it works with landowners, councils and volunteers to expand biodiversity. In 25 years, it aims to create larger, connected habitats and offer stable roles. Saman Shahabi, Harington Gardens operations manager, says the program helps bridge gaps to nature for people with disabilities.
