Dramatic new video shows army vet's full attack on New York City federal building

A dramatic video has circulated showing the full attack by U.S. Army veteran Andrew Arrabaca at 26 Federal Plaza in Lower Manhattan, where multiple pedestrians ran for cover after he reportedly raised a weapon. Authorities said Arrabaca, 43, was held without bail on an arson charge after he started a fire near an employee entrance using gasoline and a combination of gasoline and fireworks he carried in a wagon. The building houses offices for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and immigration courtrooms, and officials said the incident began around 8:20 a.m. FBI and NYPD officials described him as serving from 2001 to 2005 repairing Patriot missile systems. Video captured fireworks being ignited, a pellet gun later described as a pellet gun by authorities, and Arrabaca pouring gasoline and igniting a larger blaze. Federal court findings described him as “quite clearly ill,” and officials said he made comments indicating suicidal behavior and that the building was his target. An FPS officer suffered minor injuries, and a civilian at the site for an asylum hearing was also injured. James Barnacle said Arrabaca indicated it was acceptable to hurt or kill people entering or leaving the building.
