Arkansas lawmakers on the House and Senate Education Committees approved Oct. 5 recommendations for the next two years of public school funding, intended to be voted on during the 2027 legislative session. The state Supreme Court requires the formula to be both adequate and equitable, after more than 465,000 students were served by public schools last year. At a high level, the per-pupil foundation amount rises to $8,239 next year and $8,431 the year after, averaging a 2.43% increase versus a historical 1.88%. The plan adds $14 million for students with disabilities and creates $1,000 per dyslexia student.
