A former White House teleprompter operator, Gabriel Perez, has been ordered to pay more than $172,000 (£127,000) after being found to have used inside information to bet on U.S. President Donald Trump’s speech topics. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission said Perez traded on Kalshi between December 2025 and February 2026, based on what the president would say during addresses. The settlement requires him to surrender $107,539.02 (£79,452) in profits and pay a $65,000 (£48,000) civil penalty, reduced for “exemplary co-operation.” He is also banned from trading for three years.
