Film Chamber's 'My Talkies': Can this new OTT platform rescue Malayalam films from the shelf?

Kerala Film Chamber is set to launch “My Talkies,” a new OTT platform aimed at giving Malayalam films a second life when they fail to secure conventional digital deals. Kerala Film Chamber president Anil Thomas said many films remain shelved for months or even years because OTT platforms typically buy titles through a grading system. He described “My Talkies” as a long-term support mechanism for producers, especially those overlooked by mainstream services, and said it will not compete with CSpace, launched by the Kerala government. Unlike CSpace’s free viewing model, “My Talkies” will use pay-per-view. It’s expected to keep a 42-day theatrical window, with early withdrawal possible if the film meets a 28-day minimum run.
