Florida Panthers Face Pittsburgh Penguins Who Have Their Thoughts Elsewhere

The Florida Panthers face the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight, with Pittsburgh distracted after a medical emergency involving forward Ben Kindel. Early Tuesday, the Penguins’ charter flight had to return quickly to Salt Lake City when the 19-year-old had a medical episode onboard. Practice was canceled Wednesday, and the team planned to provide an update on Kindel’s condition. Coach Dan Muse said they hoped Kindel would be on his way back to Pittsburgh. Kindel was treated aboard by team physician Dr. Dharmesh Vyas and staff, then taken by ambulance to the University of Utah Hospital. The latest statement said he was conscious, alert and stable. On the ice, Pittsburgh has struggled, losing four straight and winning once in eight games.
