From the soccer pitch to changing lives in the ICU
From the soccer pitch to changing lives in the ICU, Breanna Nine’s path has connected athletics, nursing education, and hospital volunteering. A longtime Lewiston Bengals girls soccer player, Nine graduated high school in 2021 and went on to play NCAA Division III soccer while studying nursing at Piedmont University in Demorest, Georgia. She helped the team win the 2022 College Conference of the South Tournament and graduated early in 2024. Five years after leaving the area, she is now employed at the Neuro Intensive Care Unit of Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Her focus began at age 10 after a ruptured appendix led to lifeflight to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, where she stayed through Christmas and New Year’s. She later started Breanna’s Christmas Gift, raising donations and delivering presents to hospitalized children at St. Joseph’s in Lewiston and Gritman in Moscow.
