Georgia high school shuts down in-person classes after students report black water in bathrooms
xCruzo Brief
Dunwoody High School in Dunwoody, Georgia, will switch to virtual learning for the rest of the week after students reported discolored “black” water in bathrooms. Principal Tom Bass said there were facility problems tied to water valve issues that caused discolored water in a few areas; classes begin virtual Thursday. Bottled water is available on site, and restrooms remain operational. Students noticed the issue on Monday, after which HVAC units in parts of the school were affected; Bass said those systems were repaired and are cooling again. The district initially blamed a nearby water main break, but DeKalb County said it wasn’t. Officials also plan air-quality testing after concerns about mold in portable classrooms.
