Georgia Tech DB Jaylen Mbakwe released from hospital after scary exit vs. Tennessee

Tennessee beat Georgia Tech 45-24 on the road, but the focus after the game quickly shifted to Jaylen Mbakwe, Georgia Tech’s defensive back. In the third quarter, Mbakwe hit his head on a teammate’s knee while making a tackle and stayed on the ground for an extended period. Georgia Tech’s training staff attended to him before field personnel prepared to bring a stretcher onto the turf. After a crowd of players kneeled, he was assisted off the field and later applauded. The program later said Mbakwe was released from Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta after precautionary observation. Alabama transfer Mbakwe played two seasons at Alabama before joining Georgia Tech, totaling 15 tackles and a 2024 interception as a freshman.
