Here's which states favor daylight saving time. Where Florida stands
xCruzo Brief
The U.S. House on July 14 voted to make daylight saving time permanent and end the twice-a-year clock change, moving the measure to the Senate. The bill, H.R. 139, the Sunshine Protection Act, was filed Jan. 3, 2025, by Rep. Vern Buchanan, a Florida Republican from District 16. It would set daylight saving time as the permanent standard while allowing states to opt out and remain on standard time. The House backed the approach after rejecting on July 13 a request to consider an alternative that would keep standard time year-round. Florida supports permanent daylight saving time, a stance led by state politicians since Florida became the first to “lock the clock” in 2018.
