High school football: Top performers in the Southland

Southland high school football turned up a long list of standout performances across rushing, passing, receiving and defense. Rushing leaders included AJ McBean of Gardena Serra with 135 yards and three touchdowns on eight carries, and Noel Washington of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame with 158 yards and two scores in a win over Bishop Alemany. Passing highlights featured Taylor Lee (Oxnard Pacifica) throwing for 365 yards and five touchdowns versus San Diego Lincoln, while Ezra Brown of Orange Lutheran went 18-for-19 for 253 yards and a win. On defense, Jalen Flowers of Palos Verdes recorded two interceptions against Orlando (Fla.) Bishop Moore.
