House votes to hold Epstein associate Leon Black in contempt of Congress

The U.S. House of Representatives voted unanimously Wednesday to hold billionaire Leon Black in contempt of Congress after he refused to comply with subpoenas tied to a congressional probe into the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The measure followed a 41-0 recommendation from the House Oversight Committee. The resolution says Black’s refusal constitutes contempt and should be referred to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia for prosecution as provided by law. Black’s attorneys condemned the action as “retaliation,” arguing the inquiries exceeded the committee’s scope. Black, a co-founder and former Apollo CEO, said he did not engage in wrongdoing and regrets his involvement.
