FIFA president Gianni Infantino is facing mounting opposition after UEFA declared it has “lost confidence” in FIFA leadership, warning that “no option should be off the table” when it comes to reform. The pressure follows Infantino’s 15-page social media response and a proposal to sell stakes in a World Cup-related venture to private investors linked to a member of Donald Trump’s extended family. FIFA later said the plan will not proceed, citing divisions it created. UEFA and other confederations had criticized the process for secretive, fast-track deadlines and lack of consultation. Infantino’s re-election campaign is due in March.
