Injured Kosovare Asllani set to sign extension at London City Lionesses
Kosovare Asllani’s injury is at the center of London City Lionesses’ next move, with the Sweden captain set to sign a one-year contract extension as she recovers from a severe setback. The club confirmed in March that Asllani suffered a complex multi-ligament injury, including an anterior cruciate ligament rupture. The 36-year-old’s existing deal was due to expire this summer, but London City have offered a short-term contract aimed at supporting her recovery, even though she is unlikely to play again for the club. Asllani, who has more than 200 caps, will be targeting the next Women’s World Cup in Brazil. London City, owned by US billionaire Michele Kang, finished sixth in the Women’s Super League in 2025-26 and are aiming for a Champions League qualification spot. They also added Alexia Putellas, Mapi Leon, Mary Earps, Janni Thomsen and Nicole Anyomi in the transfer window.
