Iran escalates attacks on US bases in Gulf states, warning of more “incidents” in the Strait of Hormuz, while trading heavy missile and drone strikes with US forces. Tehran said it again closed the strait, a key shipping chokepoint, and targeted US facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait, destroyed radar systems in Oman, and hit fuel tanks and ammunition depots at Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan. The US military said it struck Iranian air-defence systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats using aircraft, naval vessels and drones. The renewed violence adds pressure to a limited interim US-Iranian agreement signed last month to reopen the strait, which expires after 60 days of talks. Brent crude rose 4.3% to $79.31 a barrel on Monday as about 20 vessels were escorted through the strait in the prior 24 hours.
