It's time..." - Andoni Iraola urged to make unprecedented team selection for Man City showdown
Andoni Iraola has reportedly been encouraged to make an unusual team-selection call for Liverpool’s high-profile home showdown against Manchester City this afternoon, following an extended international break. The match comes amid scrutiny of City, which has recently been found guilty of 114 breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules. With Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak ruled out through injury, the Basque manager may need changes to Liverpool’s attacking setup and could adjust other areas. Writing for the Liverpool Echo, Ian Doyle argued Iraola should start Trey Nyoni in a Premier League fixture for the first time. Doyle suggested shifting Dominik Szoboszlai into a more advanced number 10 role and pairing Alexis Mac Allister in midfield. Nyoni has appeared in nine league matches so far, all as a substitute, including three early in the campaign.
