Jefferson City Council expected to approve budget, expenditures | Jefferson City News-Tribune
The Jefferson City Council is expected to vote Monday on its Fiscal Year 2027 operating budget and several other items. The proposed budget totals $88,573,996; ordinances would appropriate $45,542,623 from the city’s General Fund, with the rest coming from other sources. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the John G. Christy Municipal Building. Council will hear a presentation from Penny Smith on the 2026 Show Me State Airshow, which returned to a two-day format and featured aircraft including Lakota helicopters, a Douglas C-47 Skytrain, and a Northrop B-2 flyover. The agenda also includes a Fire Prevention Week proclamation through Oct. 10 and a vote on a $274,742 Community Development Block Grant from HUD. The city is also expected to approve up to $35 million in special obligation bonds for a proposed parking garage tied to a joint conference center and hotel project at East Capitol Avenue and Madison Street.
