Lane Kiffin discusses being at SEC media days with third school

Lane Kiffin, LSU’s first-year head coach, discussed his presence at SEC media days on Thursday in Tampa, Florida, marking his third league affiliation at the event. Kiffin said he first met SEC commissioner Greg Sankey 17 years earlier, when Kiffin was head coach at Tennessee in 2009. He later coached at Ole Miss from 2020 through 2025 and said he now has “great respect” for Sankey’s communication despite frequent disagreements. Kiffin added that Sankey must satisfy 16 schools, along with fan bases, athletic directors, coaches and presidents. In the upcoming season, LSU will visit Tennessee on Nov. 21 at Neyland Stadium. The comments were delivered during the fourth and final day of SEC media days.
