xCruzo Brief
Lawmakers in the U.S. reacted with shock after authorities arrested a 19-year-old man accused of plotting a racially motivated mass shooting at a Hindu temple in Aurora, Illinois. Alexandros Paporakis, of Palatine, was taken into custody Sunday after investigators traced his plans to an apartment where he lives with his mother. Officials say he had been preparing for two years, and that he told a Taco Bell coworker he was at the temple but his gun had jammed. The coworker contacted 911. Paporakis faces several felony charges, including making terroristic threats, after police found a rifle, loaded magazines, ammunition, tactical gear, and body armor components. A judge ordered detention, with another court date set for Oct. 30 at 9 a.m.
