Louis chosen as host site for 2028 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials
Louis, Missouri was selected as the host city for the 2028 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, a step that begins the road to LA28 and taps into the city’s Olympic legacy. The event is scheduled for March 25, 2028, and NBC will provide live coverage starting at 12 p.m. Eastern Time, bringing national attention to the region. USATF CEO Max Siegel praised the bid process for delivering professionalism, vision, and an exceptional experience for runners and fans. USOPC CEO Sarah Hirshland said the Trials will identify the first Team USA for the Los Angeles Games, highlighting the start of the qualification journey.
The course will route athletes through St. Louis landmarks, including Washington University, Forest Park, the Gateway Arch, and Busch Stadium, finishing inside Energizer Park, home of St. Louis CITY SC. Organizers say the final course layout will be announced in the coming months. St. Louis Sports Commission President Marc Schreiber called the selection a tremendous honor and noted the city’s ongoing commitment to hosting major events. Co-chair Jackie Joyner-Kersee said the Trials will deliver a memorable experience and inspire local youth.
