Luis Figo calls on FIFA president Gianni Infantino to resign over sell-off plans

Luis Figo has called on FIFA president Gianni Infantino to resign, saying the FIFA chief’s conduct is “the lowest, most deceitful and cravenly self-interested behaviour” Figo has witnessed. The Portuguese great, who backed Infantino after withdrawing from FIFA’s 2015 presidential race, criticized him for pushing major changes after an emergency meeting in Rabat that followed the abandonment of a plan to seek private investment to run the World Cup. Figo wrote in the Daily Mail that the “solution needs only three: Infantino must go.” UEFA’s European Leagues group also attacked plans to expand the tournament to 64 teams, warning FIFA is making decisions without adequate consultation.
