Man who sprayed Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar with vinegar sentenced to 14 months in prison
xCruzo Brief
Anthony Kazmierczak, the man who sprayed vinegar at Democratic US Rep. Ilhan Omar during a Minneapolis town hall, was sentenced Thursday to 14 months in prison after reaching a deal with prosecutors. The sentence came nearly eight months after the Jan. 27 assault during an immigration crackdown that sparked protests, arrests, and the deaths of two US citizens. Prosecutors sought the same 14-month term. Kazmierczak, 56, was also given three years of supervised release, including no contact with Omar. Witnesses said he jumped from the audience with a syringe, sprayed the liquid, and told Omar she was “splitting Minnesota apart.” Omar was not injured and kept attending the event.
