Man Who Stopped Oregon Elementary School Shooter Had 2 Daughters At The School, His Mother Says
Kaylub Giamanco, credited by officials with stopping the teenage gunman inside Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, has two daughters at the school, his mother said Friday. Kenda Freeman said Giamanco intervened during Thursday’s attack, shooting the teen suspect. Police say three students and a teacher were killed, while a fourth student and another teacher were critically injured. Gov. Tina Kotek praised the unnammed public intervener at a news conference hours after the shooting, saying his actions helped end the rampage and likely saved lives as police arrived. Memorials appeared around the school in a fast-growing neighborhood. Authorities said the suspect, a 16-year-old Bend resident, was found dead minutes after first calls, and that he used a pump-action shotgun bought by his mother.
