Master builder Unai Emery brings home comforts back to Villa Park with Champions League rout

Aston Villa’s 6-0 home win over Fenerbahce on Wednesday night underlined how Unai Emery’s rebuilding is taking shape. The result came after a troubled start domestically: Villa are 16th in the Premier League with one win from six, and they’ve struggled at Villa Park, winning five of 13 league matches since the turn of the year. However, they’ve now gone two from two in Europe, and secured their first home victory of the season, providing a major confidence boost. The North Stand revamp left the stadium with very limited attendance at kickoff, with three builders in the crowd celebrating early. Villa scored three by half-time, with goals including two from Nicolas Jackson.
