Mayhem on California school bus as parents smash inside and kids forced to climb out windows

Chaos broke out on a California school bus on Monday along Highway 49 in Calaveras County after angry parents allegedly tried to force their way onto the vehicle. Reportedly, students were kept aboard for about an hour when the driver refused to let children off. Video shown by KCRA 3 depicts at least one child squeezing through a window to escape, followed by later incidents in which a parent climbed through a window and confronted the driver while other students remained inside. A 12-year-old aboard said the trouble started after the bus stopped and another child climbed through a window, prompting the driver to order students to stay seated and wait for law enforcement. The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office said a parent struck the bus door, shattering glass, and was taken into custody at the school district’s request for vandalism. Deputies also warned that windows should only be used as exits during emergencies. Superintendent Kassie Meeks said the incident began with concerns about student behavior and required police involvement.
