MercadoLibre Raises US$1 Billion in Ten-Year Notes
xCruzo Brief
MercadoLibre priced $1 billion of 5.850% senior notes due 2036 on September 11, settling on September 14, raising long-term funding when US 10-year yields briefly touched 5%. The notes were set at a 6.139% yield for investors, a spread of 130 basis points over comparable US Treasuries. The company, incorporated in Delaware and listed on Nasdaq as MercadoLibre, Inc., hasn’t detailed how proceeds will be allocated beyond general corporate purposes. The company said the cash supports long-lived assets such as warehouses and logistics and the Mercado Pago lending book, aiming to reduce refinancing risk by using 10-year debt rather than short-term borrowing.
