Minnesota man originally from Somalia is one of 17 Trump administration targets for denaturalization

Abdikadir Kadiye, a 54-year-old Minnesota immigrant from Somalia, is among 17 people targeted in the Trump administration’s latest denaturalization effort. A civil denaturalization complaint was filed this week by the U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota, accusing him of illegal procurement of naturalization and procurement of naturalization by concealment of a material fact. The complaint traces his entry attempts back to 1997, when he used the alias Liban M. Degel and claimed to be married with no children; after a visa denial he re-applied in 1998 under the name Kadiye. Federal law allows denaturalization for citizenship obtained through fraud, though the process has rarely been used.
