A Newark angler still has a shot at up to $1.8 million after a major catch at the White Marlin Open in Ocean City, Maryland. Steve DeBrabander reeled in an 85-lb tuna on the second day of the six-day tournament, billed as the “World’s Largest Billfishing Tournament.” When weighed around 4 p.m. Tuesday, it topped the Tuna division and was temporarily valued at about $2.8 million from the $9.9 million prize pool. Larger tunas were measured later, including a 110.5-lb entry from the See Legs, but DeBrabander’s tuna still showed $1,801,075.09 in potential winnings. The event runs through Saturday.
