Members of Maryland’s Blueprint for the Future Accountability and Implementation Board are returning for a virtual meeting Thursday, including Isiah “Ike” Leggett and Robin Werner, reappointed by Gov. Wes Moore to new six-year terms after prior appointments that expired July 1. Leggett chairs the board and previously became the first Black county executive in Montgomery County. Werner, a director of teaching and learning in Talbot County, replaces Mara Doss, who left in August 2025. The board oversees implementation of the state’s multiyear, multibillion-dollar education reform plan, with annual updates due by Aug. 1 and reconvening Sept. 17 after no meeting in August. Agenda items include changes reflecting General Assembly policies from the 90-day session. Separately, Tony Ruffin becomes the Maryland Public Service Commission’s new communications director, after 16 years at Pepco/Exelon and replacing Tori Leonard upon her retirement.
