Over 50 Liverpool houses empty for decades to be revamped
xCruzo Brief
Liverpool City Council plans to refurbish more than 50 derelict homes that have sat empty for around 20 years across areas including Anfield, Everton, Edge Hill and Princes Park. The council says the properties will require extensive repairs before they can be made habitable, with about a fifth affected by significant structural problems that will demand major work. After refurbishment, people on the city’s housing waiting list could move into some of the homes. The authority has hired local development firm Duke Developments, with the first phase in Anfield expected to begin soon, as part of a wider effort to tackle housing need and strengthen communities.
