Pair Paints Over City-Sanctioned BLM Mural in Calif.

A confrontation unfolded in Martinez, California, on Saturday after a couple painted over a Black Lives Matter mural outside the county courthouse. Although the city had granted permission to activists to paint the original message, a man and a woman arrived hours later and used black paint to cover the mural’s letters. In a video shared by witnesses, the pair argued with activists, shouting that “all lives matter” and claiming police killings are linked to resisting arrest. Activists recorded the truck’s license plate number and the Martinez Police Department is investigating. The mural was repainted afterward, and police are seeking help identifying the couple and their truck.
