Parents go ballistic at California school after four blonde girls shared blackface picture -- as other shocking incidents emerge
Parents confronted the Santa Barbara Unified School District after four teenage girls posted a TikTok in blackface last month. The students were disciplined, but families said the incident reflects a broader pattern, citing a protest at a school board meeting Tuesday night. Protest signs urged action, including criticism of how long it took to notify parents. Much of the attention focused on the video, where the girls mimicked an AI-generated image of four young Black boys, using a ninja emoji widely associated with the N-word. San Marcos High School principal Dare Holdren said the girls “portrayed blackface” and the school “instituted consequences,” but parents questioned why notification took two weeks. Other past incidents were also raised, including a substitute reading the slur out loud.
