Patriots Training Camp Notebook: Launching The Deep Ball
New England Patriots’ seventh training-camp practice featured veterans selectively resting and a heavy focus on improvisation in passing work. Head coach Mike Vrabel said several players would be limited, and a group including Rhamondre Stevenson, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Morgan Moses, Marcus Jones and Christian Gonzalez stayed out of team drills. Christian Barmore returned after an undisclosed absence, and Gabe Jacas was back after being on the NFI list. Cornerback Carlton Davis missed a third straight practice with a hamstring issue, while other injury-listed players did not appear. In quarterback drills, Drake Maye and Tommy DeVito were active in 7-on-7, with Maye going 4-for-5 and DeVito 4-for-4. In full-team reps, Maye finished 9-for-12 with an interception to Dell Pettus; DeVito was 6-for-10 with a pick by Karon Prunty; Behren Morton was 2-for-4. A.J. Brown left after walking off without a limp, while Caedan Wallace and Kyle Williams exited due to issues during 1-on-1 and 11-on-11s, respectively.
