Pezeshkian: US violated Islamabad MoU, shifted to excessive demands within two weeks

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the United States violated its obligations under the Islamabad MoU and began making “excessive demands” in less than two weeks after Donald Trump signed the deal. Speaking at the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, Pezeshkian condemned recent US-Israeli attacks against Iran as aggression against the UN Charter and international law. He cited an alleged assassination of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and senior commanders on February 28, followed by a ceasefire on April 8 after Iran resisted and retaliated, including actions affecting the Strait of Hormuz. Pezeshkian said Iran responded appropriately to the US breaches and added that if Washington returns to commitments, Iran will do the same. He also proposed SCO economic and security initiatives, including an SCO bank, insurance union, energy consortium, and a strategic security studies center.
