Potential sanctions for Man City could include fine or removal from Premier League
Manchester City faces an uncertain future after being found guilty by an independent disciplinary commission of systematically breaking Premier League financial rules for nearly a decade. The ruling, delivered by the three-person panel, leaves sanctions on the table including a fine, points deduction, or even expulsion from the league. City could also face compensation claims from rival clubs. The Abu Dhabi-controlled City Football Group owner says it will appeal and has rejected the verdict, arguing it is “innocent” and that evidence supports its position. An appeal would trigger a new three-person panel, with a hearing expected to end within 12 weeks and no more than five consecutive days. The league says the process should conclude quickly, with sanctions decided in a separate confidential hearing.
