Prospect Eddie Micheletti Jr. goes to Angels

The Los Angeles Angels strengthened their farm system by acquiring minor league shortstop Arjun Nimmala, outfielder Eddie Micheletti Jr., and right-hander Angel Rivero from the Toronto Blue Jays. The price was Toronto’s right-hander José Soriano, who is under contract for two more years after this one. Nimmala, Toronto’s 2023 first-round pick, is ranked 43rd in MLB Pipeline’s prospect list. At age 20, he has played at four levels this season, reaching Double-A, posting a .265/.364/.453 slash with eight homers, 34 RBI, six steals, and a 60/33 K/BB in 62 games. The Angels’ move could affect how quickly they view Zach Neto at shortstop. Rivero, 19, is a Florida Complex League starter with strong results over 42 innings but is still far from the majors.
